one.com has acquired 100% of GratisDNS to become the leading provider of .dk domains in Denmark. With the acquisition, one.com strengthens its leadership position in the web hosting and web solutions across the Nordics.
“At one.com, we have the ambition to become the leading provider of hosting and online presence services in Northern Europe, both through organic growth and strategic acquisitions. From its establishment in 2001, GratisDNS has been actively shaping the Internet in Denmark. Over the years, we have followed their success and collaborated with the team closely at multiple forums, particularly around regulatory frameworks of the global internet infrastructure. Today, we are extremely proud to see GratisDNS join the one.com Group as we continue towards achieving our combined goals.” comments Stephan Wolfram, CEO at one.com Group AB.
The .dk domain is the first choice of domain extensions for Danes with over 1.3Mio domains registered over a population of 5.8Mio people. Out of all those .dk domains, the one.com Group combined portfolio now has over 400,000, making it the largest supplier of domains in Denmark.
GratisDNS also welcomes the acquisition. “Our passion has long been to spread the Internet in Denmark. As we transition to one.com, we are becoming part of a leading hosting provider in Northern Europe, offering new, exciting opportunities for both GratisDNS and our customers. Together, we now stand stronger in the common goal of developing the Internet,” says Peter Larsen, CEO at GratisDNS.
In connection with the acquisition, all employees from GratisDNS will transfer to one.com and contribute to the future development of the brand’s strategy.
